Magic Under Glass by Jaclyn Dolamore
Title: Magic Under Glass
Author: Jaclyn Dolamore
Pages: 240
Age group: 12+
From: Library- Local
Genre: Romance, Fantasy
Blurb: Nimira is a music-hall performer forced to dance for pennies to an audience of leering drunks. When wealthy sorcerer Hollin Parry hires her to do a special act - singing accompaniment to an exquisite piano-playing automaton, Nimira believes it is the start of a new life. In Parry's world, however, buried secrets stir. Unsettling below-stairs rumours abound about ghosts, a mad woman roaming the halls, and of Parry's involvement in a gang of ruthless sorcerers who torture fairies for sport. When Nimira discovers the spirit of a dashing young fairy gentleman is trapped inside the automaton's stiff limbs, waiting for someone to break the curse and set him free, the two fall in love. But it is a love set against a dreadful race against time to save the entire fairy realm, which is in mortal peril.
My Opinion: Written like an author who has published many books (This was actually her debut novel!) Magic Under Glass was an amazingly creative, interesting story that really felt like magic.
What I really liked was how this story was so modern yet.. not! Also, I'd never even heard of an automaton before reading this. To me, Magic Under Glass felt like a cross between Jane Eyre and The Magic Flutes (The Reluctant heiress).
While I enjoyed the ending I would have liked a little more! I love the character of Nimira though. She is determined to make live the way that she wants to and to sing and dance. I liked that she was strong character, not one who collapsed under love or pressure.
4/5
Also, I highly recommend reading this article that is about the cover (not the one I used) of this book. To see it click here

The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting
Title: The Body Finder
Author: Kimberly Derting
Pages: 336
Age group: 14+
From: Library- Local
Genre: Crime, Mystery, Romance
Blurb: "A serial killer on the loose. A girl with a morbid ability. And the boy who would never let anything happen to her.
Violet Ambrose can find the dead. Or at least, those who have been murdered. She can sense the echoes they leave behind... and the imprints they leave on their killers. As if that weren't enough to deal with during junior year, she also has a sudden, inexplicable, and consuming crush on her best friend since childhood, Jay Heaton.
Now a serial killer has begun terrorizing Violet's small town... and she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him."
----
Violet Ambrose is grappling with two major issues: Jay Heaton and her morbid secret ability. While the sixteen-year-old is confused by her new feelings for her best friend since childhood, she is more disturbed by her “power” to sense dead bodies—or at least those that have been murdered. Since she was a little girl, she has felt the echoes the dead leave behind in the world . . . and the imprints that attach to their killers.
Violet has never considered her strange talent to be a gift; it mostly just led her to find dead birds her cat had tired of playing with. But now that a serial killer has begun terrorizing her small town, and the echoes of the local girls he’s claimed haunt her daily, she realizes she might be the only person who can stop him.
Despite his fierce protectiveness over her, Jay reluctantly agrees to help Violet on her quest to find the murderer—and Violet is unnerved to find herself hoping that Jay’s intentions are much more than friendly. But even as she’s falling intensely in love, Violet is getting closer and closer to discovering a killer . . . and becoming his prey herself.
My Opinion: ** spoiler alert ** Oh. My. Gosh.
This book is amazing.
My aim for this month is to read a book a day. So far that hasn't really been working (Busy with Easter and Stuff). The Body Finder was my second book for the day. I was supposed to be sleeping, but instead I was reading. In the middle of commercial breaks, eating dinner, brushing my teeth, I was reading through it all. This book... oh my gosh.
What I really loved about The Body Finder was the characters. They made me laugh, cry and I loved the...more Oh. My. Gosh.

What I really loved about The Body Finder was the characters. They made me laugh, cry and I loved them. And OMG. Jay. He is TOTALLY at the top of my hotness scale. SO HOT. Love him. The only thing that bothered me about him was how he was just like yeah, I dumped that girl who I was going to go to homecoming with. I don't care if she's popular or a slut or whatever. If he was really nice and knew that Violet and he were going to get together he wouldn't have just called and cancelled on the poor girl. But anyway, I still love him :)
And I loved the suspense! It was what kept me reading.
I could kind of tell that Kimberley was a debut author at the start. I don't really know how, but I just could tell. But through the book her writing changed and it was bloody amazing!
And oh my! Some of the scenes in this book! At times I was about to turn the fan on from all the steaminess (I didn't though, I couldn't leave the book for those 2 seconds :) And at other times I had the chills.
Though I would have loved to learn a little more about her grandmother (who could also sense bodies), the murderers and Jay's family I really really
The Body Finder is an amazing debut. I need more!

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Title: Vampire Academy
Author: Richelle Mead
Pages: 332
Age Group: 14+
From: Borrowed from Friend (Mikaela - Thanks!!)
Genre: Fantasy (Vampires), Romance, Adventure
Blurb: St. Vladimir's Academy isn't just any boarding school—it's a hidden place where vampires are educated in the ways of magic and half-human teens train to protect them. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, a bodyguard for her best friend Lissa, a Moroi Vampire Princess. They've been on the run, but now they're being dragged back to St. Vladimir's—the very place where they're most in danger. . . .
Rose and Lissa become enmeshed in forbidden romance, the Academy's ruthless social scene, and unspeakable nighttime rituals. But they must be careful lest the Strigoi—the world's fiercest and most dangerous vampires—make Lissa one of them forever.
My Opinion: I thought that the start of this book was pretty slow, though a few of my friends LOVE it and told me to just reading... so I did.
And, I too fell in love... with Dimitri. (No, really I have friends who fight over him. I have a 20% share)
I've now read all the books and I really do like them! The Vampire Academy isn't the best in the series.... JUST KEEP READING!
What I love in these books is the characters! You don't have your normal 'average girl, with brown hair, brown eyes, you know what I mean..' You have Rose, I beautiful girl who is a strong, loyal girl who can defend herself and who (over the whole series) changes but still is the same.... I don't know how to explain it... these books are just amazing....
